EFFECTIVE WRITING SKILLS (A-12 HOUR TRAINING)

INTRODUCTION

Effective Writing Skills is a training designed specifically for busy individuals who would like to obtain the ability to use the English language effectively. It is a 12-hour training which emphasizes the importance of sentence construction, paragraph writing, outlines, composition and business letters. 

It is easy to teach correct writing to trainees who understand the elementary sentence structures. Trainees who have a knowledge of the aforementioned areas are in a better position to understand how to present their thoughts and ideas in Standard Written English. 

Trainees must learn how to marshal their thoughts as they can present their ideas and thoughts to others effortlessly.  Hence, this training is based on the principle that people can be taught how to write in Standard English effectively for any purpose. In this way, they will not rely on guesswork to write in Standard English.

This training is meant for people who need to write for various purposes at their workplaces. 

Objectives

The training is intended to:

strengthen the trainee’s Transmission Skills – speaking and writing.

improve the trainee’s understanding of how the English language really works.

help the trainee use the English language in real-life situations and focus on communication clearly and confidently.

increase the trainee’s knowledge of English sentence structures and their use in spoken and written English.

show the trainee the many ways of joining ideas into a single sentence.

Methodology

The trainees must attempt many exercises to help them understand how to write sentences, paragraphs and essays. Moreover, the study of outlines can help trainees to present their thoughts and ideas in a logical manner.

With the right instruction and supervision from the trainer, the trainees acquire the right knowledge to write effectively through practice in many written exercises.

Course Outline

To construct effective English sentences, trainees must know these sentence structures – simple, compound and complex.

Outlines are suitable for trainees who need to write clearly and forcefully. Most of all, trainees think logically when they prepare outlines.

Before trainees embark on composition, they need to understand the parts that make a single paragraph. 

By learning the three main stages of composition, trainees are better informed on how to write business letters, memorandums, emails, etc.

This section covers the essential parts of the Business Letter and its various forms in the business world.
